Leaf Ministry and Seminary update – #10 December 2008
*I am scheduled in the Pulpit at Village Seven Presbyterian on December 28th, 2008. It is a blessing to preach at the home church, but as a rookie it is also rather intimidating…
*We continue to minister to the families in the Queen Palmer neighborhood:
-We delivered a couple turkeys to help with Thanksgiving
-Ana’s fourth grade class is gathering coats, hats and gloves to give to the school for students to use during recess as needed.
-We have organized to assist five families during this holiday season with food, clothing and gifts for Christmas.
*We are bringing 25 kids to V7 on Wednesday nights for Pioneer club and youth. I am teaching the 3/4 grade boys and loving it. Most of these kids are in their 3rd year with us.
*I am grateful to E.J. Nusbaum, Sam Lee and Serenity von Hassel who have joined me on Wednesday to pick up and feed the kids before club. They are a joy to serve with.
*Daryn continues to come to church and occasionally spends Sunday afternoon with us as well. I bought him a pair of wrestling shoes and signed him up for club wrestling; which his mom is getting him to faithfully. He is an athlete and is taking to it.
*My studies at New Geneva continue to go well, but I weary of study…how much can a man read? After this semester, Lord willing, I will be 62.6% finished.
*I feel the weight of your trust and have been intentional in my goal to be a good steward of that trust; in my studies, our finances and the ministry.
*We will be posting photos and stuff regularly at johnbleaf.com from now on, really.
We are so pleased with the calling God has laid out for us and we ask that you
pray for us as we come to mind in the following ways:
• That I would be prepared to be used by God in the pulpit; it is a humbling and often intimidating experience to be called upon to preach the Word.
• That I would continue to be diligent in my studies and that I would learn all that God has planned for me.
• For the work at Queen Palmer this spring.
• For our financial needs during this time of ministry.
• God’s people faithfully continuing to lift us up in prayer.
All Blessings to you,
JBL
